Resignation rejected

I see UKIP have rejected Nigel Farage's resignation. He put his heart and soul into the general election campaign and achieved a tremendous result for UKIP even though he did not manage to secure his own seat. He well deserves to stay as Leader and enjoy the success of his Party. The kippers know what loyalty is all about - at least they did not dissect his corpse, like Labour MPs past and present have been doing over the past few days, and have supported Nigel wholeheartedly.

It looks very much like a good move all round.

Farage promised to resign, and he did, one of very few MP promises ever kept. UKIP has rejected the resignation, which is a vote of confidence in Farage, on the grounds that nearly four million voters did not want him to go.

A win - win - win.

Nearly 4 million people voted for him and the party. Before that he "won" the EU elections.

If they had done anything else, they would have been insane and insanity does not appear to be a UKIP trait. Well not now anyway.

I'm sure that Farage will step down eventually and it will be accepted. But not until he has brought the party to a higher level.

I remember the Lib Dems talking about millions of votes and handfuls of seats. I also remember how the Lib Dems turned it around. Local Government. Something not talked about much in the press is that UKIP did very well at the local election level. Something the party will also attribute to Farage and thank him for it.

He's the acceptable face of UKIP and I really don't think they can do without him. It's hard to see who could fill his shoes. Imagine Neil Hamilton as party leader with Christine has his deputy They wouldn't have got 4m votes with them in front of the cameras every night on the news.
