Does any body get the impression that a loose thread has been pulled and the knitting is falling apart?

We have France and Switzerland flagrantly operating outside Schengen. Austria and Hungary closing their borders to 'migrants' Regarding quotas, the Eastern members are against and if Portugal and Spain join in they can overrule. Then again, with freedom of movement, quotas become meaningless.

If Italy implements maritime law to the full and refuses (rescue) vessels docking rights the next coastline is France. Now that would be fun, watching the rules fly out the window at supersonic speed.

Nobody wants them. Nobody will send them back. All it does is highlight the differences between the EU nations. Interestingly the UK, Ireland and Denmark don't have to take any no matter what the EU decide and only Denmark will be flooded if they decide to give them all Schengen Visas....

Denmark has threatened to close the borders before. If they believe that they will be inundated with immigrants from other countries, they will.....

Meanwhile Greece and the other EU nations trade cheek slapping motions and Tsipras heads off to see Putin again. Perhaps he'd like to sell him rights to host some of his new nuclear missiles in Greece..... Or perhaps not...

But it all does seem to be unravelling pretty fast doesn't it.

It all gives the likes of UKIP, and even DC, a nice hand to play regarding immigration.

Freedom of movement, a reasonably good idea badly thought out and managed, is coming back to bite. Like it, or not, the unforeseen pressures of today are going to have to be dealt with and it is good that the EU elite is now having to wake up and smell the coffee.

Closing EU borders and implementing International Law to the full, along with dismantling the trafficker gangs, will have to be done.

Wasn't it Maggie and John M who wanted the Chunnel? Not that it has anything to do with the illegal immigrant problem. It is probably the most secure entry into the UK, which is why the illegals do not use it.

The problem is the lack of political will to deal with then coming in via other routes.
