£20 note

Postby cromwell » 19 Jul 2015, 12:36

So then, whose face should be on the new £20 note?

It has been specified that the person chosen is someone dead, British and from the world of the visual arts (architects, artists, ceramicists, craftspeople, designers, fashion designers, filmmakers, photographers, printmakers and sculptors).

So that's my choice of Guy Fawkes done, so I'll settle on Charles Hawtrey!

Who would you choose?

Nothing comes to mind maybe because I have absolutely 0% interest in (architects, artists, ceramicists, craftspeople, designers, fashion designers, filmmakers, photographers, printmakers and sculptors). Alive or dead.

What, I wonder, stops us from having our Monarch on it.... Unless, of course, you want to some day swap it for the Euro....

It is only since the 1960s that the Monarch has appeared on bank notes, and still does on one side, even though their issue only legally requires the signature of the Chief Cashier of the Bank of England. The other side usually has historical figures of national importance as chosen by ?????.

With the new £20 not I could not care less. I'll go for Hilda Baker.

Saw her several times. She was a real comedian.
Although not in the lis mentioned, The lady who was a charity worker and committed suicide recently is my nomination

Having had a think about this I wonder why we have to have people. Why don't we celebrate the country and have views of the Dales, Cheddar Gorge, The Downs, Giant's Causeway, Ben Nevis and so on?
