Two economies and a major company being hurt....

Postby Workingman » 28 Jul 2015, 18:01

.... by illegal migrant's attempts to cross the Channel.

Us and the French and Eurotunnel.

Will the latest actions by the illegal migrants be the catalyst for co-ordinated action?

We are well aware that governments do not worry too much about the social effects of so many coming in, but will the up-front costs in £s and €s make them change their minds?

I hope so.

It's the Frenchie's problem, in my opinion, it's down to them to clear those migrants out of the area.

I wouldn't shed any tears if Eurotunnel went bust. Personally, I'd brick it up!

It might be their initial problem, but then it becomes ours.

The actions of these illegals are now having a direct financial impact on both economies. Eurotunnel takes the brunt, no matter what anyone thinks of it, but what of the haulage operators and the leisure industries on both sides of the channel? What about the disruption to people's lives?

We are like-minded in this Ossie. Apart from the poll tax, it was the worst idea that Margaret Thatcher came up with. If I could roll a large boulder in front of the entrance I would happily do it. Looking back at the time the tunnel was being constructed, the main cause for concern seemed to be that dogs might come through bringing rabies with them. That seems to be the least of our worries now. :x

But Ossie, Meds, it, the tunnel, is there, we have to deal with it 'as it is' today. It is not going to be closed, so we have to deal with the problem of illegals as it now presents itself.

The migrant problem is, of itself, one thing, but when it impacts on a country's economy it becomes another.

I am hoping that the financial impact on our economies, due to the actions of the illegals, will result in a more robust way of dealing with them.

What makes me ache is the media treatment of this story.

The focus of the BBC and Sky is to try and make the public feel sorry for the "migrants". Stories about evil people smugglers, the hardships that these people endure in their "search for a better life", close ups of cute babies and their mothers - not much mention of the fact that 80% of these people are young men.

The fact of the matter is that the poor of Africa and the Middle East are on the move to Europe. Last year the Germans had 200,000 applications for "asylum" - in itself a laughable concept, because you are supposed to seek asylum in the first safe place you come to, and I don't think many of these people are from Austria!

This year the Germans are expecting the figure to double to 400,000.

And any trouble in Germany is put down to the nasty "far right", the subliminal message being that anyone who opposes this mass invasion of Europe is a Nazi, and is therefore wrong.

We have an asylum dispersal centre in Wakefield and trust me, some of these people are neither use nor ornament and never will be. I feel sorry for us, not them.

I don't care if it's the loss of money that causes this problem to be tackled or whether it's divine intervention. Because if it keeps up my hometown is going to be like a third world hellhole in 20 years, and who wants that?

What are we thinking here, machine guns? :)

The only way to deal with this is to remove the migrants from Calais, which the French have always seemed unwilling to do. There is talk of repatriating the West African amongst them to Niger - well get on and do it!

At the same time, the French need to take a long hard look at the Channel terminals - rail and ferry - and ensure they are fully secure and of adequate size to accommodate the traffic stacked up to use them. If 2,000 migrants can, in groups of 100 or more, break through the existing barriers with impunity, then those barriers are simply not secure enough. Double layers, razor wire, whatever it takes ....

If all else fails to deter the migrants, you could always send a few French farmers out to spray manure over them ....

If it does not hurt the Elite it will bother them not one jot, but if it hurts them financially they will act.

Money talks, and if it says "carry on" that is what will happen, but if it says "enough is enough" the elite will act.

What we plebs need to do is make the money talk and say "we have had enough"... It is down to us now.

Will we act? Maybe. Sometime. One day.

I wonder when it will occur to those in authority that Calais is a PORT.

One French Naval reserve ship and a bunch of military landing craft in support. Gather them up, put them on the ship and dump them on the North African beach where they started from. They won't have the money to pay to come over again so they can just go home the way they left in the first place.

Should take about 120 hours tops....

Problem solved.

Ok so there are about 4,000 of them. 2 ships. Same deal. Take them all at midnight, load them up and it's a done deal. Nice and safely back to Africa. Then keep on doing it. The message will soon filter through and the problem will be over. Permanently.

If they just vanish overnight the lawyers and the aid workers won't be able to intervene.

Well, until the next time.
