The order to go to war in Iraq V2 might have been passed by parliament, but it was based on lies. Those lies will some day be exposed, they already have to some extent, but not by Chilcot. It will be done by invesitgative journalism and whistleblowers. The truth is there, it just needs to be made public.

To some extent you are arguing against yourself.

Blair should be brought to book because he lied to the people and waged a war on the international scene which has been deemed illegal by the world of nations.

Even then, if the war has been deemed illegal by every other country in the world, if it was in the vital interest of UK national security and the wellbeing of the British people, the UK has the power and the ability to simply say "tough it was right for the UK, if you don't want a war don't threaten us". That I would support unreservedly.

However it was not in the interest of the UK national security or the wellbeing of the British people.

No, it was not in the interests of UK security or our wellbeing to go to war. We were not under threat. Saddam's Iraq could not hurt us. Apart from a few conventional Scuds it could only just hit Israel or Riyadh or Dammam. There were no WMDs, no nuclear, it had no air force to speak of, there was a no-fly zone.

I sat in Al Khobar when Saddam's Scuds came in. They were wayward and the Patriot missiles took most of them out. One got through, though, and killed 27 Americans less than a mile away form where I was based. Saddam's Iraq was not, and never was, a threat to the UK, yet Blair made out it was and sent UK military to their deaths. I will never forgive him for that.

No I'm not arguing against myself really.

I'm saying two things.

1. Stop all this "servicemen and women died". They die all the time. There was a time when we had this right to complain, it was when we sent national servicemen out to die in Aden and Korea and other places. Conscripts should only be sent out to die when it is the country at risk. These were not conscripts.

2. Go after Blair by all means. He abused the power vested in him and should be brought to book for it.

Just separate the two. But the press won't and this is seriously damaging to our professional forces. For that I won't support them until they stop this emotion mongering.

Totally agree. There is little doubt as to who is behind the delay in publishing the Report.

Mind you, when it does come out it's 99% certain that it will be a whitewash anyway, with absolutely no one held to account.

It's like setting the internal finance department to investigate their management for embezzlement... Rather a conflict of interests...

Chilcot is for as long as possible "keeping his mouth SHUT"
No one can tell me it takes this long to reveal the pack of lies that will come forth in defence of Blair, the arrogance the man exhudes is sickening. It's "One man against a nations wishes" and when he finally gives the excuses for the "Peace Envoys" attack on a nation the book will be shut, and the destruction, death, and maiming of innocent people will still go on.

Kate, he has till next Wednesday to supply a publication date, and that date must be before the end of this year. If he fails then legal action will begin. The time from the end of the inquiry to today is longer than the war lasted.

Outrageous Frank. It's cover up after cover up . Deception after deception, lie after lie Is seemingly the operative word . How can we have faith in anything we are told by politicians or any one in high authority.?

Of course, it is his interests to prolong this business as long as possible,
because he's being paid (Too much, I expect) but only doing a few hours a week.
