A report out today by the British Equality and Human Rights Commission, not to be confused with the European Commission of Human Rights, informs us that those under 34 face the worst economic prospects for a generation and those in the 16 - 24 age group were more likely than others to be living in poverty.

Many of them are poorly educated having been failed by the educations system. This locks them out of quality job training, which then locks them out of better paid jobs and that locks them out of the housing market... and so it goes.

However:
"Theirs are the shoulders on which the country will rely to provide for a rapidly ageing population, yet they have the worst economic prospects for several generations."

With the rise of the robots, or more likely automated systems as we are now seeing in warehousing, many menial jobs will disappear. The days of the need for a growing workforce are coming, or might well have come, to an end.

Something will have to give in the not too distant future.

Perhaps Graham Hancock's prediction in his latest book will solve all of our problems.
He suggests that planet Earth is likely to receive, possibly in about 20 years time, a
cataclysmic collision with what is left of the meteor which stuck Earth thousands of
years ago, and that this will most likely wipe out life on earth as we know it.

That thought puts matters into perspective, doesn't it?

Eat, drink, and be merry.

And love thy neighbour.

We are about to be passed by a 300m diameter meteor known as the 'Skull'. It will be 300,000 km away, but was only discovered three weeks ago.

Mine's a Grouse, if that's OK. Cheers Aggers.
