It is hard Kaz, thank you I know you understand and you too Gal xxxx

The vet may come out, but at what cost? Sadly I just can't afford that, so I will wrap her in her blanket, and hold her and they will have to find a way of doing it like that

It's so horribly sad isn't it, my first cat was 21 and eventually stopped eating, except when I gave her tiny bits from my fingers, but of course that was really doing it for me, not for herself.

Lovely for all our precious animals if they could just go to sleep - and for us too - but we don't get to choose.
I can often sound quite tough but am not really, I just try to do the best for the animals I love.
It does sound as though, if you're quite sure Mia is not in pain, then one day soon she will just come to a natural end (((xx)))

Shell, ask your vet how much it would cost for him to come to your house and also ask if you can agree a repayment scheme... you may be very pleasantly surprised.

You could also ask for a tranquilliser to give Mia at home before you take her so it's not as stressful a journey for her. I'm sure there must be something a vet could give you?

Well it is done and it was all fine, if that is the right word.. She was all curled up asleep when I got home, and every time I lifted her out of her basket she tried to get back in. So I put her cushion from her basket in the carrier and she was happy to go in. My friend came with me. Simon was the vet on duty and he was so lovely. He had a snuggly fleece on the table for her and wrapped her up. He said he had no doubt it was the right thing to do. So I held her head and whispered or rather sobbed in her ears. Kay my friend stroked her and the nurse held her still. Simon gently shaved her leg, then put the injection in and she was unconscious . We laid her down, Simon left us with her and we stroked her and talked to her. Then he listened to her heart and said she's gone.

I knew this morning it was time to let her go. I promised her when she lost her sparkle I would let her go and I kept that promise.
