The kitchen company we visited the other day are concerning us.

Their website is down and their e-mail comes back as full. I really liked their kitchens but am now worried that they're in financial difficulties. I do have a phone number, but Grumpy is saying not to bother with them.

the man who came round last night certainly knows his business, but I can't have a granite or marble work-top (which I'm not too bothered about) and have to guess what the colour scheme is going to look like.

His quote should arrive by Monday.

That sounds ominous ton.

And I'm not sure I could order a kitchen and not know what the colour scheme was till I saw it!

I know the colour scheme, grey and black.

The other company, I rang yesterday and they'd forgotten all about us    So should be coming next week - but I'm not holding my breath on that one ;)

Oh I don't like the sound of that company Ton :o I hope you can find someone reliable, and get the kitchen you want!

I actually feel as if I'm being rail-roaded by Grumpy

He fitted kitchens for many many years, did thousands probably and the three men on Thursday night were discussing everything, I sat on the window set in the kitchen and was able to get in about 3 words.

Apparently, I can't have the taps I want, as it would mean major building work, the sockets will have to do, again, major building work or have them surface mounted, which I don't want and I have to have a charcoal extractor fan over the hob.

I did get to choose the hob - only because I found it on a website here - because I'm rather clumsy  I didn't want the big gas ring in the middle, but on the side. His supplier has promised to get the one I want. The oven is up to me, but neither of them could understand the self-cleaning fan assisted bit, so had to show them on the website  Again, his supplier is going to try and find what I want and then they'll let me know. Otherwise, I'm just going to get one myself - from somewhere.

Just had a very constructive chat with Grumpy - about this kitchen.

He now agrees with me that the finish from the bloke in Castro may not be what we (both) want. The other company, if they turn up, may well be more expensive, but I think, much more professional.

There were a couple of points I picked up on the other night and mentioned them to Grumpy, who hadn't heard them mentioned.

So it's a wait and see game - again

So we're going to ask Helda, a local builder, who he uses for the kitchens on the houses he builds.

I was going to suggest speaking to someone in the building game. They all know each other: plumbers; plasterers; joiners, fitters and so on.

S, downstairs, is a joiner and when a mate was about to have a pitched roof put over a flat roof that was leaking I asked him for recommendations. He mentioned a company that she had already got an estimate from - deal done.
