No but if you had lived with a Labour hegemony for more decades than I would like to think of (especially councils), then it represents change. Sometimes changes is accepted at the cost, because the cost of not changing is too high to bear.
The Scots are finally waking up and finding that Labour in Scotland has been one of the most destructive forces they have ever seen, not only on the political scale but also on the national heritage front too.
It will settle. As soon as the Nats settle down and start acting like Labour they will find their vote has reduced massively. Scots, today, are seriously hacked off with both Labour and Lib Dem to the point where they are willing to vote Tory instead locally. Where Westminster is concerned, they are absolutely against all 3 main UK parties. What does it leave them? UKIP? Most Scots are less concerned with the EU than they are with England and Westminster.
It will settle in the long run, but in the short term Scots are voting for what they want and to hell with everyone else. What the Scots want is a change from the status quo and they are getting it. I'm not saying that it is a good thing, just that it is no longer more of the same. This is the same thing that is driving millions of Americans to vote for the first time in their lives and to vote for Donald Trump. They are sick of seeing votes go to a different party and getting the same result. Not that I'm saying that Trump will actually be able to do what he says, just that people are about at the end of their tolerance for being ignored and marginalised and talked down to.
In History this has usually gone badly. Russia, Yugoslavia, the Arab Spring. The main difference with the UK and the US is that we do have a real tool to make change without civil war. It's just that enough people need to want it. One more generation of apathy and I believe the ability to make change without civil war will be gone in the UK. It might take 2 or 3 more generations for the US but it is inevitable for them too if the authority carry on doing what they are doing.
So whilst the current strength of the Nats in Westminster is a worry, their strength at home is nothing like the same and could vanish in 5 short years if they mess it up.
