Gal, I wonder if yours is faulty in some way? I get no lines or smears whatsoever. My parents have one too and they're really fussy about clean sparkly windows (I always remember windows being cleaned inside weekly, and weather depending the ground floor outside too - please tell me that's OTT?) so borrowed mine before buying to see if it passed their test, they get a lot of condensation in Winter so were wiping down windows daily which took ages. They loved it so bought their own.
I use it for the shower screen too, mirror doors on wardrobes and the bathroom and kitchen wall tiles. All come up shiny and streak free!

Frank, I think the idea behind meths in the salon was that it'd cut through the layer of hairspray that settled on the mirrors. My last job of the day, I hated it. I'd see that purple liquid and start grrrr'ing

I don't think you can beat scrunched up newspaper, and water with a little vinegar in it! Having said that I wouldn't mind trying one of those vacs, I have been sorely tempted..... 8-) ;)

Does yours have the grooves Jo?

You can clearly see them on this pic - it is the grooves which leave the lines - so as it's sucking up the moisture from the window like a hoover, the lines are drier and then I have to buff them with a dry cloth - not worth it to me, you may as well just wash them the old fashioned way!

Yeah, mine's got the grooves along the rubber strip.

Stardrops spritz. Rub in with a scrunge, squeegee off (available at Poundland). Water spritz and squeegee again. Buff with paper - Daily Mail is best - or micro-fibre cloth: done.

Repeat six months later, if necessary. ;)

We use a cleaner. We were given a canister when we had double glazing installed many years ago. Went to the company who made and supplied it. They were in Manchester. Could only buy a carton of 12. So I bought two cartons. Still have several canisters left.
The factory has now moved to Glossop.
Just spray it on and wipe it off with a clean duster. No streaks. Also use it on the car windows.
We have been thinking of buying one of the window vacs as we get a lot of condensation on the bedroom windows.

Gal, could it be that you're holding it at the wrong angle; I'd have thought only that the softer rubber strip would prevent any streaks?
