Good morning Wednesday

Morning all,

I left Bordeaux last night in heat and humidity, to arrive in Edinburgh in cool and rain. However as I dress like a local in France (black jeans and T shirt with shoes), I only needed my coat to be comfortable when I arrived and I had my coat.

It's bright and sunny today out of all the windows so that's nice. I might go to work in just a shirt today, which will be the third time this year.

This will be my last full day in work this week and I'll turn up on Wednesday next week ready to leave. I got a mail from a friend last night with a job opportunity so I'm hoping that will come to something and I don't have to drive all the way to France on Sep 1st.

I'm off to Argos first thing to pick up 3 orders (two to get the bike fixed in France and one for the wifi in France), then I'm going to get into work about 10:30. Tonight I'm going to start taking the bike, over here, apart to fix my beginners mistake when fitting the water pump bearing and I'll finish the work tomorrow; since I need the bike on Friday to head down to Lincolnshire where it will be staying for a while. Well unless I get the job today and then it's all change again.

Have a great day all.

Morning all

How is it not even 9am and we're already on page 2 :o :o :o

Usual work day for me, then rushing after work to go collect my car from the garage where it's being serviced and then rush home to try clean before my mom arrives tomorrow. I was meant to do it last night but plans changed. Last week I was cutting the hedge - I've reduced the height of it quite a bit, so the garden bin was really full, as were two plastic sacks we used to use. Some kind neighbours (also from SA) happened to walk by and we got talking and cut a long story short - their garden bin was empty so they said I could use it which was super helpful. I knew there were fellow SA people living round the corner and spoke to her once ages ago, but this was the first time we had a proper chat. So last night I went round with a little thank you gift and ended up staying over an hour having a glass of wine (or two) and a natter... such fun and what lovely people. But needless to say the time spent there was meant to be time spent cleaning at home... so now it all needs to be done tonight. Guess I'll be multi tasking - watching GBBO whilst doing the cleaning

Have a lovely day everyone and Suff, fingers crossed for good news for you

Thanks Jo, Ria.
I forgot to mention I managed, by dogged determination and lots of Army language, to get the printer going enough to print Mrs S' documents for travel this weekend. However my hands are now CYMK coloured as I had to take the heads out of the printer and put them in boiling water....

Other good news is that I finally hit 3 stone weight loss over the weekend. I wimped and ate too much last night whilst travelling so I need to take 3lb off again for this weekend. But it's still good news. I'm trying out a body control stocking to see if I can control the hunger over the next few days which, sadly, means I'm wearing a jumper again as you can see the black through the white shirt

I had to sew the seams of my best kilt jacket waistcoat back up over the weekend and the thing is just "credible" now. So that 3lb is pretty important.

Morning all :D

Another glorious sunny day here 8-)

Blimey Ally 8km    unlike Molly I'm not just tired at the thought of that run, I'm absolutely exhausted

Fingers crossed you get good news Suff.

I'm off out for coffee with the ladies this morning, then this afternoon it's find somewhere cheap and cheerful to eat. Having no kitchen sink has upped the inconvenience level considerably!!

Hope you all have a good day :D

Well done Suff! That's a real achievement, 3 stone! Joe decided he was going to lose weight last Autumn so started eating more healthily and began walking to and from school (6 miles) rather than taking the bus and he lost around the same amount.

Jen, years back when I was having my kitchen gutted and redone (admittedly it was only for 2 weeks), I moved the microwave into the lounge (it's a convection one so works as an oven as well) so used that for cooking, the fridge was in my bedroom and I did the washing up in the bathroom basin.

The one thing I found most inconvenient was not having a working washing machine, but friends invited me and my laundry over to theirs which was a huge help

And bless my mom - she was with me for a week of whilst this was going on and just mucked right in. She was younger then though, not sure how she'd cope now

Ria, we lived with a convection microwave and fridge in our lounge for around 3 months when we first moved into our old house. On viewing the house the kitchen and the bathroom were a priority but, after surveys and more serious problems appearing, they fell further down the list after moving in. It worked well for us though, it was just the two of us back then, we bought a cheap normal microwave (probably at the cost of a couple of meals out) for cooking things like veg while meat or whatever when into the convection one.
