Note to self...

...never leave the bag lying around that you have earmarked for the clothes bank when you have a nosey husband! :o

This has been the scenario after I had a right good (ruthless) clear out:

Rustle rustle...that's himself rootling in the massive Ikea bag into which I had carefully folded all the clothes I no longer want.

Him: (picking out a black and white print dress) "why are you getting rid of this. It's lovely"

Me: "I haven't worn it for a good 2 years, it's a peplum style which doesn't look good on me anymore and I don't want it"

Him: "Oh. That's a shame. I like it."

Me: "Put it back in the bag please Don."

Him: (picking out a flowery dress that used to look nice on me but now makes me look like a walking garden!) "oh, I like this! Keep it. I like it on you."

Me: (sighing) I don't like it anymore. Put it back in the bag please Don."

Him: (having another lucky dip in!) "Now this I do like. I used to love you in this.

Me: (getting slightly peed off) "The clue is the words 'used to'. It's a size 10! Put it back in the bag please Don.

Him: (seriously peeing me off now) "I don't remember ever seeing you in this dress. When did you ever wear this?" he asks, waving a stripey maxi dress.

Me: (realising he's in danger of discovering a few items of clothing I bought and never got round to wearing but had the good sense to cut off the labels!  ) "Really? Oh yes. I wore that a couple of times. (Hoping my nose doesn't start doing a Pinocchio!) Put it back in the bag please Don."

At this point I need to get him away from this piggin bag of clothes! Coffee! I need a coffee!

Ooh this is thirsty work Don, I say (making slight gasping dry throat noises  ) Could you make me a nice big mug of coffee please. :D :D

He's gone off to make said coffee, I'm packing the stuff back in the bag and taking it straight to the clothes bank before he decides to have another rummage!

I think it might be because Don has a love for clothes...he'll happily mooch in clothes shops (actually ALL shops! ) for hours.

2 out of the 3 first things Don bought me when we'd just met were items of clothing (Levi's and a pair of DM's) which I loved. :D :D :D :D

Kaz, I don't think John really notices what I wear either

I keep asking home to have a clear out. We had new bedroom furniture...oooooh...in January 2015. I organised my wardrobes straight away but he just piled everything in his (one of his is floor to ceiling pull out baskets) and said he'd sort it 'later'.
21 months have gone by, 'later' hasn't yet arrived so it's still not been done. Mostly it's t shirts, and I've asked time and time again for him to go through it, decide what he doesn't want and I'll wash it before taking it to the charity shop and still I'm waiting.

 .poor Don, all those things he loves you in :D

Bb often says I look nice, but I doubt he could tell you what I was wearing!
When I bought a dress earlier in the year, and said I only had one (the black lace, Christmas-before-last one), he laughed and said, but you must have 27 dresses.
I asked him what he thought a dress was, turned out he meant all the tunic tops I wear with leggings/jeggings...

Jo it'll never get done, Bb wouldn't either, unless I marched him up there to do it with him. But that's not good as he wouldn't voluntarily get rid of anything. The only answer is do it yourself - I chuck things out, if he notices something's missing, it 'must be in the laundry basket' :)

Incidentally, so you can see what's in the baskets, do look up the art of vertical folding ;)

Ohhhhh...how fab is that?
I have mine horizontally folded with my favourites at the front and I can see where each favourite item is through the front of the basket.
