Fall Guy

Postby cruiser2 » 16 Oct 2016, 14:10

On the second night of our cruise, we were in one of the lounges after dinner. This was when we were crossing the Bay of Biscay. The bar had shut as we can only get free drinks between 5.00 and 8.30 p.m. I was not drunk!!
We were still talking to other passengers, when I knocked a glass over which still had a few drops of red wine in it. Some of it splashed onto mrs.e's dress. So I went to another bar and got a small glass of soda water to remove the wine stain. You had to have a key card like a credit card to get back into the lounge. As I took my card out of my pocket, the ship lurched and I fell sideways, hitting my right shoulder very hard on a column. Several members of staff including security were quickly there including one with a wheel chair. When I stood up I found I could still move my arm and fingers and did not go to the Medical center.
Back in our cabin I had to be undressed because of the pain in my shoulder.
Next morning at 7.00 a.m I went to the Medical centre as I had not slept because of the pain. It didn't open till 8.00 a.m, but one of the doctors came after a few minutes and said I could go in. After taking my details my shoulder was x-rayed. The doctor said I had not broken
any bones, just torn a ligament. So I have been wearing a sling for most of the time.
It is gradually getting better.
On Wednesday afternoon, I am going to see a friend who used to treat sports injuries to see if she can do anything.
I have managed to drive the car and have started using my PC.
It will have to get better as we are going on another cruise in two weeks

I like the cut of your jib: Sir! :cute:

One is never inebriated, one is always the victim of a crease in the carpet, a misaligned tile or kerb, or an errant shoelace.

Cruiser, the new thinking is to keep the injury gently mobilised as often as possible. I do hope it heals for the next cruise.
