Gloucester Royal have issued a norovirus warning, asking people not to visit relatives in the wards, and not to come to A&E unless absolutely necessary! I hope it doesn't affect Outpatients, as I have to visit three times a week for the next ten weeks

Oh no, fingers crossed! It's always the same every Winter isn't it.

I noticed as we walked into the lobby at Stafford the other day, or County Hospital as its now known, that there's an area on the wall by the door with hand sanitiser units fitted and a sign requesting that they're used by all on entering but apart from us I didn't seen anyone else using them.

There are dispensers all over our local hospital, and people do use them.
It's the simplest way to stop it spreading as it lives on fittings, door handles, etc.

They had a lot on the boat, a you couldn't go into
any restaurant without a crew member telling you to use the ones by the entrance, or at dinner they had a person each side dispensing into everyone's hands.

I always use it Di and I buy a Boots one which I hope works well (you can never really be sure can you) but states that it keeps working for up to six hours to kill bacteria and 99.9% of viruses (unless you wash it off of course).

Interesting about the restaurant in the boat, Di .... I guess it's such an "enclosed" environment that any virus can spread like wildfire once established ....

When Mrs O was in hospital with her broken leg, I recall all the wall dispensers, but very few people actually using them ...
