No he isn't Jo....I'm really worried now, it's like when Mopsy went missing 8 years ago, and he never came back. He was 13 and had done a couple of disappearing acts in his life, so not as unusual as this, Smudge is always kicking about the doors, SO out of character for him.

My best thought is that he is fastened in a shed or a garage somewhere...can't contemplate any alternative.

When Jen gets home and I tell her, I will post something public on FB and ask my local pals to share.

TY for asking xxx

Oh no Gal, what a horrible worry. Fingers crossed that he's gone in somewhere for a warm.

Will keep thinking of him and willing him to come home ((((((Gal))))))xx

oh what a worry Gal

Can you start knocking on neighbours doors and ask them to check their sheds? Ideally actually if you can check the sheds yourself as cats usually dig down deeper and hide more if they see a stranger.

and then contact all the vets and local rescues and register him on Animalsearch.co.uk

Posters on every lamp post / notice board. One in your car. Ask the postman if he knows of any houses that are empty at the moment in case he's gotten in somewhere and can't get out. Also ask the postman to keep an eye open for him.

Lots more advice here: http://www.catchat.org/index.php/cat-missing-lost-found but get going now; don't rely on FB or wait for Jen

Fingers crossed and tons of vibes he's home soon x

Oh Gal, sorry to hear that Smudge is missing.

I know how heartbreaking this must be as we had our black cat, Samantha, do the same thing.

Coincidentally, a slip was posted the other day from a neighbour whose cat, she describes her as a dappled ginger with white socks and bib, has gone awol. It contains the sort of thing Ria is suggesting re shed and outhouses.

I have everything crossed for his safe return. xx

Thanks Ria - I've posted some cards through local doors saying just that, most folk around me know he's my cat and recognise him. One lady has popped over already to say she'll help look as her house backs on to fields and we know Smudge goes in the fields. I haven't heard of that search site, just having a look at it now. He's chipped but I don't know whether if someone finds a cat, dead or alive, if they'd take him to the vet to have him checked for a chip. It's a real puzzle....I've been right round the mile walk near us, peeping in to undergrowth and calling him, I spoke to a man who lives near the fields and he said he hadn't seen him but he'd keep an eye out for him, said he could see I was upset.

Thanks everyone x
