Travel Plans

Postby cruiser2 » 17 Dec 2016, 16:19

We have managed to change our flights so we are now flying on 22nd December.
This will mean we should not be affected by the strikes of baggage handlers and check in staff.
So hopefully we will be in the Caribbean for Christmas

That's good! I have never understood how such strikers think they will gain public sympathy by seriously inconveniencing so many people

I hope you get away without any hassle, Cruiser.

My son and dil have cancelled a trip to Prague because of all the nonsense. They moved to London in October and do not know it too well so have hired bikes in order to explore.

Really pleased to see that you're sorted Cruiser. It's so unfair of those striking to cause so much disruption to people. It's not quite so bad if it's transport workers striking I suppose as it disrupts working days and work, in some instances, can be caught up on but when it's people trying to get home for Christmas or going on a much looked forward to holiday? Very unfair.

Very glad that it hasn't spoiled your holiday Cruiser! Have a great time! :D

Frank that's such a shame, I have always wanted to go to Prague (it must be magical at Christmas) and would have been very disappointed in their shoes  Hope they enjoy exploring London by bike instead xx

Kaz, Michael has been to a few Stag dos there and is taken by the place, he wanted to show Soph the magic.

She will not finish till late on the 23rd and has an exam on the 3rd of Jan, so they could not take the risk. They live near the Olympic Park so have planned trips to the museums - British, NH, Science and V&A as well as Wanstead flats and Epping forest.

Osc, they apparently strike near to big events because it gives them more leverage. They have no thought to the people who actually pay their wages - the customers.

Mick went on business once, I would have loved to tag along but they had such a packed and tightly organised schedule that it just wouldn't have worked :? I'll get him to take me one day :)

They will enjoy the museums - growing up so close to London Mum often took us in the school holidays :D

Thank you for your replies.
We have now started packing.
Had my hair cut, got our money, new travel documents and hotel voucher.
Changed taxi pick up to the airport at Manchester and when we arrive in America.
Will go on VV when we are cruising

Cruiser, when in the Carib you have to get a mixologits to make one of these:

1 shot dark rum
1 shot Cointreau (or bitter orange liqueur)
2 shots of green ginger wine
top up with an equal volume of lemonade and add a wedge of lime

I do not know if it has a name but after a few you will certainly be on a 'Bon voyage'.

WM,
If someone asks what I would like to drink, I say a drambuie shandy with not too much lemonade!!
But I tend to stick to either red wine or whisky and ginger ale.
I like a good malt whisky but will not pay the price for one on the ship. They also add 18% service charge on every drink.
We get free drinks between 5.00 p.m and 8.30 p.m and several bottles of wine which we have with our meals in the restaurant.
So it will be a bit of a boozy cruise for us.
