Double "L"

Postby cruiser2 » 21 Feb 2017, 08:32

We had a glass ornament with our names engraved on it sent from America. It was a free gift including shipping. When it arrived, there were two"L"s in my name: Philip. Yet when I had filled in the name on the order form I only put one "L"
So we emailed the company and they said they would send another one. This arrived yesterday.
The name on the ornament is correct, but on the documentation there is two "L"s in Philip.
So now we have two ornaments. You have to look closely to see the mistake.
A lot of people want to spell it with two "L"s. I always refer to how the Duke of Edinburgh spells his name.

Never thought about it before but the Philips I've known, using it as a first name, have all been single Ls yet I know a few people with Phillips as a surname and they all use LL.

Ossie, that just cracked me up - my colleague is Hanna; and yes you guessed it..... without an H And the number of times when she gives her name people ask: so is that Hanna with or without an H?

      so funny
