OK so I just don't get the Lords.

Let me see. The government of the UK has a role to protect the interests of the UK citizens.

So by voting to unilaterally protect non UK citizens, the Lords has, essentially, hung the UK citizens in the EU out to dry.

Honestly. The reason that those EU citizens don't already have that right is because the EU refused to guarantee the same rights to UK citizens. Anyone with half a brain cell could see that by passing this legislation they fully endanger the UK citizens in the EU.

Of course that pre-supposes that our Lords have half a brain cell to share between themselves.

Honestly they should be ashamed of themselves.

On their own heads be it.

The Lords have been rigged by creating an artificial level of Liberal Democrat and Labour peers, so this first blocking and delaying tactic is only to be expected. As an example there are over 100 LibDem peers out of 800 plus "Lords", but only nine LIBDem MP's out of 650 MP's in the Commons.

The way the Lords are behaving is probably a good thing, because it exposes them for what they are. Not aristocratic nobles at all but a rag-bag of parasitical c-listers, has-been politicians and their cronies.

Long term I hope that this will lead to their abolition and the removal of any second house of parliament.

And not only the Lords.

I see the BBC has quietly dropped the defeat from the front page of its website. It is now tucked away on the politics pages and is being spun, as always. There are two graphs, one for EU migrants in the UK and one for UK migrants in the EU. They use different scales but are the same size pictorially.

The impression given is that they are equal deals when they are patently not.

There ought to be a maximum age, perhaps 75, that these peers can sit in the house of lords and claim £300 a day for having a subsided lunch and an afternoon doze.
