Millie is doing so much better - I can't believe that just over a week ago she was hanging at deaths door!
I took her to the vet yesterday for them to look at her leg as they had managed to sew it up on Wednesday. The vet was really pleased with it and says it looks promising (I wasn't brave enough to be in there with her - I sat in the waiting room). There is a tiny patch of skin that has died but she said that would just drop off and because the skin around it is healthy, it will grow back - healing itself from the inside out.
They have bandaged it back up again (a very fetching pink bandage again but this time with an extra white bandage on her foot - no idea why. Student nurse was practising on her I think). The vet also gave me a top tip on how to get the tablets down her as we were struggling with them.
She is being very fussy with her food and won't eat her usual dried food. Normally I wouldn't pander to her - but I just want her to eat so I ended up buying some tins of the food they had been feeding her when she was in hospital and which they also gave me 3 of after her op on Wednesday. £6. For 3 tins. She'll be on Chappie or dried food this week!
She seems very much back to her old self now - she was even playing with her new toy cow this morning. She also managed to jump up to the window seat in the lounge (her favourite spot to watch the world go by) and get down again. She is pretty miserable about being confined to downstairs though. I took her over to the neighbours yesterday (the ones I was with when she was hit and who helped me out with getting her to the vets). She loves going over there as David always feeds her digestive biscuits - this time she turned her nose up at them. But when offered ham, she wolfed it down. I think she is rather enjoying being a patient now.
And we are allowed to walk her again - only very short walks up and down the lane - three or four times a day. At least it stretches her other legs and gets her out and about for a sniff. L took her first thing this morning and S has just come back with her. I think they (and Millie) are enjoying the attention from the neighbours - they all keep coming out to feed her ham!
Back to the vet again on Monday and Thursday next week for more check ups. I'll be on first name terms with them soon.
