Read the instructions...!!!

Postby Workingman » 09 Mar 2017, 20:58

My mobile phone is Win 8.1 and when connected to the PC only allows certain things to be done, unlike my old Anoydroid Sony. That had a PC suite and I could add or delete this and that and have a good old play. So, I went online looking for something similar for the Lumia.

The Lumia, though Microsoft, is actually a Nokia device and I found a Nokia Phone suite - sorted.

Or not!

I could not get the phone to connect through it so I spent ages online looking for solutions, which I tried and tried and tried, but nothing worked.

It was only after kicking the wall, banging my head against the bathroom miror and bashing an clattering about the kitchen, basically trashing the flat, that I decided to read the help file.

It doesn't support my phone!

W7, my laptop OS does, all it needs is a little download from Microsoft to the lappy and the phone. :o

If only I had........ (see title of thread)

I once spent hours arguing with the fax machine at work. My colleague got the instructions out and sorted it in minutes. She said my husband repairs washing machines, you are what gets put on the job sheet as RTFM....... read the f******g manual

 Mick never reads manuals, I think he regards it as an insult to his past career as an engineer :ugeek:

Of course, this means it takes him twice as long as it would if he had RTFM :P

Don't think I've ever read a phone manual to be honest :D

But usually I'm quite good at giving things a go first but then consulting the manual if it doesn't work.

Kaz, the engineer thing must be why John doesn't read them either

Funnily enough I was walking through the woods this afternoon and wondering if I should get a new camera, but then thought that I probably should read the manual to see exactly what mine can do, I've only really used it as a point and shoot and it's got loads more on it. I've had it for nearly two years....
