All I wanted to do was iron some chinos, not get the iron snagged in a pocket and rip the seam.

Ironing I can do, sewing ripped seams is way beyond my limited skills.

However did you manage that?

Pull the waistband over the board, outside seam and pocket to be ironed. Swipe from the ironing board end to the waistband, get the iron in the pocked and..... the rest is now history.

I need to be more gentle.

Good Lord, Jo, men do not do 'new' everything we get looks second-hand as soon as it is out of the bag!
