Pudding ideas - Spanish themed?

Postby debih » 25 Feb 2013, 09:38

We are off out to a friends for dinner on Saturday and I said I would make pudding (mainly because if I can't get into the kitchen for workmen I can go out and buy something).

But I would prefer to make something. My friend is making paella so I thought it might be nice to do something Spanish like if I can. There will be 6 adults and 5 children (although I can do something different for the children - probably an Iceland special of lots of little desserts - they usually eat seperately to us anyway, pizzas in front of the tv).

Something I could make the day before would be perfect as there shouldn't be any workmen in my kitchen on Friday (fingers crossed).

Here's some good ones Debih! I always associate Creme Caramels with Spanish desserts and there's some lovely almond biscuity things on this list.

I thought about creme caramel. I've never made them before so will study the recipe.

I also wondered about churros but wasn't sure about cooking them beforehand.

I will have to investigate.

Thanks for that link Fugi - there's some good recipes on there.

Creme caramel is a big favourite over here Debih. :D

Churros have to be served straight after cooking when they're piping hot otherwise they'll go chewy and yucky. (Well..that's the norm here, but then they have huge churros for breakfast and dip them into hot chocolate.)

I did wonder about that Ally.

I'm not sure even if I will get time to make anything yet. It could be a cheesecake from Sainsburys yet!

You can always stick a pair of maracas in the top
