I am almost embarrassed to tell you.....

Postby Osc » 01 Apr 2017, 14:09

....but we have booked another holiday .....a cruise in September .....a month before we go to America

Raided next year's holiday fund  A Canadian couple we met on a cruise, with whom we have stayed in touch, are going on one from Venice that we have fancied for a while. So we thought it might be fun to see them again. Lots of chatting on Messenger last night and again now :D :D

Do it while you are able!

Unfortunately, I'm not because of mobility and anxiety :(

Osc, I wish my parents had been like you. The furthest they've been is Inverness, and overseas for them was the Isle Of Wight. I'm not sure what's stopped them, they've certainly had the money to go places, but I have an inkling that's it's my Mom who's held my Dad back. He talked for years about how he'd love to see Canada and various places in the US and I've often pointed out organised trips but nothing's ever come of it. I find it very sad that he's never seen these thing.
Now they're well into their 80s and Mom's waiting for a hip replacement so I guess it'll never happen now.

We keep telling our lads that time and money spent on seeing the world is never wasted.

Back in the 90s when we went to all sorts of different places, my brother used to say he wasn't interested in travelling, although he enjoyed hearing about everywhere we went. But since his wife died eight years ago, he has been to America and Australia, and although he is on quite a limited income, he saves and plans for a couple of holidays every year. Already this year he has been to Fuerteventura, is going to Dubrovnik next month, and I think another trip is planned for the Autumn - so it must have been his wife who wouldn't go. He is 72 next month and I am so pleased that he is enjoying life.
