The honesty of the media

On Polling day.

Almost every paper is leading with a 2%-3% additional surge for the Tories in the last polls.

Except the Mirror. Who pulls out the fact that ONE poll showed 1% difference.

This is why I prefer to read the poll results collated together rather than having a media outlet tell me what they mean. I don't even read Tory press reports on their polls as being pukka, because they could even be pushing the Tory Voters to get out and vote or UKIP voters to switch because of a possible Labour surge.

We will start learning the truth around midnight.

Yeah, yeah, and the Telegraph (a Tory paper) had them at 12% but now its poll of polls is showing 7%.

They are all as bad as each other.

Not that anybody gives a toss any more. With very few exceptions voters have already made their minds up. Roll on tomorrow when we can get back to normal bickering.

I think newspapers should be banned from taking sides in an election run-up.
It is sickening how some of them twist the news items in favour of a particular party.

I have been sickened by the way the Daily Mail has twisted the news items in an obvious
of running down certain candidates. So much so that I'm going to stop buying their blasted
news rag, and I think that certain people should instigate legal procedures against them.

I stopped reading the Daily Mail about a year ago, Aggers; we now buy the Times which although nominally Tory does seem to give a broad spectrum of views. (Or to put it another way, there's usually something in it to get me hot under the collar .... )

Aggers I've been annoyed with the spin from day1 on both sides. The latest polls span from 13% to the Tories to 2% for Labour. Allowing the press to twist it whichever way they want.

In general the average of all the polls which run to 7 June, including the Ipso Moray just released, is 7% for the Tories. However BMG/The Herald is 13%, ICM/The Guardian is 12% (up 1% from it's previous) and ComRes/Independent at 10%. It is only because of the Survation at 1% and the Qriously/Wired at -2% (2% to Labour), that change the polls from averaging 10% to the Tories.

From what I read, there are some serious questions to be asked about those last 2 polls. I believe the last one is totally London skewed which would explain that. There are some serious changes based on weightings too. Some polls change by as much as 8% when weightings are applied.

Anyway, as I said, we won't have to wait long for the reality to unfold.
