No. I won't shut up (yet!)

I was thinking of all those 82,000 people who saw fit to donate £1,300,000. Were they all wrong?

As long as there is the slightest possibility that a cure could be found for this poor little lad, and
the money to pay for the treatment was available, I consider that it was unkind for the Judge to
refuse permission.

but Aggers he is a baby that is in constant pain and has in fact known little but pain for most of his short life. How long do you allow that to continue? There really was no hope of a cure, and just the effort of transporting him to America would have added to his suffering. Plus it was only ever going to be for treatment not a cure.

The poor little boy has suffered enough, he deserves dignity and peace now

Alright, Miasmum, when you put it that way I am inclined to agree.

So today is the heartbreaking day. No one unless they have been through it can imagine how this feels. But instead of concentrating on making their little boys last few hours calm and peaceful, his parents are lambasting GOSH for not allowing them to take him home to die.

I could see their point if they wanted to let him die peacefully at home but they don't, they want to give him a bath, and put him in his cot. Charlie is on a ventilator, how the hell is he supposed to breathe while they play mummy and daddy with him as the doll. GOSH aren't silly, and they are acting in Charlie's interests whilst the parents are acting in their own.

I know the saying don't judge until you have walked a mile in their footsteps but this has made me so angry

Totally, one hundred percent agreeing with you Shell. Poor little chap, I hope he can rest in peace now, free from pain.

totally agree with you as well Shell. For too long now this has been about the parents and not the welfare of this little boy.

An incredibly sad day for so so many, and I bet there will be many a staff member at GOSH that will never forget today and have a big chunk of their heart taken as well

Thoughts to absolutely everyone who has been involved in little Charlie's very short life x

Totally agree with you Shell.

From what I've seen on Twitter and Facebook, GOSH are taking a lot of abuse for this today. It appears that rent-a-mob have got involved and at one point were trying to organise a picket at the hospital, medical staff are being referred to as murderers who kill babies. Just appalling. Tom was in a SCBU when he was born and we've seen first hand just how much care, dedication and just how much hard work the staff put in to make sure that these poorly babies get the very best chance of life.

No one would want to be in the position his parents are in but he's never going to be cured, they could take him to America 100 times and he wouldn't get better. I think that the doctor over there even stated that he wasn't initially aware of how severely affected he was and therefore treatment would be of no benefit to him? I think that their desire to keep prolonging his life is just a bit...selfish :(

I started this thread because I wasn't aware of all the facts about the matter.
I should have realised that an article in the Daily Wail did not give a balanced account of all the facts.
It seems that their main object is to promote dissatisfaction on any subject they choose to report on.
I really should change my daily newspaper.

I can understand just how upset the parents of this little lad must feel.

RIP little fellow.
