Really?

Postby meriad » 12 Jun 2017, 12:55

The below comment regarding someone a friend of a friend has in for work experience:

She is 19, never had a job, really doesn't want a job and is here purely so she can get her benefits.

Said work experience girl allegedly proving to be totally incompetent due to plain laziness and lack of interest vs genuine inability

I have to ask.... why on earth is a - by the sounds of it - healthy, young, and totally able to work person even allowed to claim benefits? I really really resent that my taxes are being used to support people like that, whereas people with genuine needs have to fight tooth and nail to get anything

rant over!

Ria, is there no way for your f-o-a-f to have a word in the little darling's shell-like and tell her that if she does not extract her digit pdq a word will be had with the JobCen in order to get her removed?

Can that be done? I'm sure this friend would do that

I don't know how it works with the Jobcentre, but certainly whenever I took work experience students from local schools, there was feedback .....

Some kids were disinterested, resented being there, just a waste of space. Others were the opposite. We subsequently offered an accounting technician's job to a lass who was one of the latter students; she went ahead and forged a career out of it.

It's a shame that someone young, and I assume reasonably bright, has no ambition to get off of benefits, I mean they aren't exactly bountiful are they? Who would want to be on that (very low) level of income when there is an alternative :? :(
