Coffee/ tea and cake is ridiculously expensive here, and most cafes offer the same old same old cakes, hard to find anything different. Plus the place is gradually being overrun by Starbucks, Insomnia, Costa Coffee - we have the first two here in our small little town We don't mind paying a little more for location and "special" - we were astonished at hiw little we paid for hot chocolate and gorgeous apple strudel in a wonderful art deco coffee shop in Prague - about half what we would pay for similar places here......even if we had somewhere similar.

I'll pay around £4 or £5 for a latte and a slice of cake or a scone in most of the cafes in town, that's independants as well as your Costas and Muffin Breaks etc.

It's rare you can get it for any less hereabouts
