I have used a track ball for years and am not comfortable with anything else. But you have to degrease the ball fairly often and clean the rollers.

I do not like track balls as I have a 'dead' finger due to an accident.

I eventually settled for an A-tech six button mouse from Maplins for £13. It is big and clunky - just what my sausage fingers need. :D
