Just done a deal.

Postby lissie » 01 Oct 2017, 09:36

The AA sent me the invoice for next year £69 for just "Roadside"
I phoned up and said could they come down.
After a few questions and confirming i have been with them over 10 years
he said he would see what he could do.
I reminded him that last year they added on "At Home" and charged £60 including
"Roadside".
He came back with a price of £58.60 and said it was always worth a phone call.
I am well pleased with it as the website shows about a £90 charge.
It gives me peace of mind to be able to call for help if the car won`t start or
you have a puncture.

That's really good, Lissie - it just shows that it is worth asking.

Well done Lissie, it's a shame we have to do all the work but always worth asking.

I am with Green Flag.
Got renewal terms at the end of May.
Went on line and got a quote for same cover which was cheaper than last year. Made a phone call and got the price showed online.
Also house and contents was due in June. Did the same getting cheaper quote on line than last year. So I have saved nearly £100. Well worth the time and phone calls.
Have just renewed my broadband and phone contract. Have got the same terms and cost as when I joined last year. Cheaper then the offers in the paer and on TV.

That's well worth the trouble then Lissie, but as Di said it's a shame the customer has to do the chasing, rather than loyalty being rewarded!

Glad you got a good deal too Cruiser :)

I've done the same in the past - renewal comes through and it's more expensive than new online; so a quick call and you'd be surprised just what you can get. I need to figure out re this year; because my car came with AA cover but it was an odd set up I recall so need to call them to make sure all is OK again. I've been with the AA since I got my old car back in 1997 so will push for customer loyalty ;)

We have been with the AA for over 40 years, and we have most of the options like Joint Cover, Home Start, Relay etc. so pay an arm and a leg.
So having read this thread, I was all geared up to phone them up if I had a swingeing increase on the next renewal.

Well, the papers came through today and the increase over last year was .... 74p! So I'll let them off until 2018 .....
