It does for the vast majority of Germans because that is what they grew up with. But what works in Germany does not tend to work in France and even less in the UK with our different expectations and work patterns.

If I did not have to I would not rent in any country outside the UK because my expectations are British.

I certainly don't want to import EU solutions to the UK then get out the sledge hammer to pound the square peg into the round hole.

Personal home ownership drives money into the hands of the ordinary people. Renting drives money into the Elite few.
