The fact she didn't hear it means that to her, he didn't make the move IN TIME. She gave him loads of opportunity, he was too shy/slow to act upon it.

BUT she's still unaware of his feelings, the fat lady hasn't sung yet I think there are loose ends, it would be a shame not to tie them up.

I do agree that another series would be pushing it, but a special would be nice. Seems PK is going with the old adage of leaving them wanting more

Ross and Rachel in Friends was the best ending ever in my opinion. Even thinking about it now I'm getting goosebumps. I caught it on TV a few months back and was sobbing into my lunch. "I got off the plane", and the very end where they all leave their keys on the counter in Monica's apartment.

Hard to believe that it's 13 years this week since that episode aired.

Next year!! Apparently Peter Kay's announced it on Children In Need tonight. There'll actually be two episodes; one which is totally improvised and the second will be the series finale.
