Potato Latkes the same as my Jewish Grandmother would make but without the bacon. One of my favourites :)

They also sound like rostis :) My ex used to love them - his German granny, who bought him up, used to make them for him :)

They sound delicious - I'm sure they'll go down very well in this house! Though some will need to be minus the onion for Tom :roll:

Talking of potato 'delicacies' I made Bubble & Squeak for the first time in a long, long time the other week - I forgot just how much I used to love that!

We have it quite often Jo, it's one of our favourites and both boys love it too.
I almost always make it from scratch. I use cabbage or kale, whichever we have, always add onion (sorry Tom!) and then roughly mash it all together and put it in a baking dish in the oven, usually with cheese on top :)
Yum yum yummy with a fried egg - and ketchup ;)

'Proper' bubble & squeak is made with leftover potatoes plus cabbage or sprouts, just roughly mashed together then fried, all together.
You fry it for a good few minutes, then break it up a bit and turn it over, so there are plenty of crusty bits, and fry it some more.

Mine isn't really bubble & squeak but is as above, about the same amounts of potatoes and greens (and any other root veg), and plenty of seasoning. Add the cut-up cabbage to the potatoes for the last 5 minutes or so. The onion I sometimes cook a bit (microwave) or add raw.
You can add bits of cooked bacon, or chorizo, but it's lovely without.
Mine's much easier for timing, I often don't know when Bb will be home, plus of course it's not fried, I do butter the dish though.

ALE, it's usually any leftover mashed potatoes and bits of veg fried up or done under the grill. It can be tarted up with fried bacon or lardons, but not raspberries. :P ;) :lol:

I love scraping the crusty bits of the cottage pie dish when I'm dishing it up. :D :D
