I've been really bad in logging on these past few days; Jo so glad all went well and fingers crossed Jo comes home today. He'll be loads more comfortable once home I'm sure x

Thanks Ria, he might now be staying in as he's been sick twice this morning.
Finding this really difficult because of the restrictive visiting times of just 90 minutes a day, we want to go and see how he is but can't until 6.30pm

Ho jo it might be reaction to the anaesthetic his body has been through alot of trauma try not to worry it's a bit late to visit in an evening but I expect the ward is busy xx

It's not a busy ward at all Saundra, there are lots of nurses and very few patients.

Anyway, change of plan; because he's been sick twice he's now being transferred to Stoke this afternoon because the ward at Stafford actually closes for the weekend tomorrow :o

No, it's about an hour away and that's not accounting for rush hour traffic. The A roads up to there are hellish and the alternative is the M6 which doesn't bear thinking about. Walsall Manor and New Cross at Wolverhampton are much, much closer but since Stafford got lumped together with Stoke, and both lads were under the care of Stafford and always had been, we've been stuck with using that.

Oh Jo, what a worry for you :( (((hugs))). Fingers crossed it is the anaesthetic wearing out his system and he's much perkier tomorrow and can come home. I'm surprised that you as parents are restricted by the visiting hours - I'd have thought you could be with him throughout? Is Stoke better for visiting hours

I think so too Jan, everyone reacts differently don't they and it's the first time he's had it so no one can say how it'll affect him and he's actually said about half an hour ago that he feels much better today than he did yesterday.

Still waiting to hear when he's being transferred so that we can set off, apparently they're trying to find him a bed which I can imagine is no mean feat. I was only reading the other day that they have around 200 patients who are bed blocking at Stoke...and yet there's probably 75% of Stafford hospital which has been permanently closed.

Nope, visiting hours are exactly the same. I actually queried it the other day as the website states that there's afternoon visiting too (for both hospitals) but apparently the website is out of date and afternoon visiting hours were cancelled some time ago.
I think if he was on a children's ward then we'd be able to be with him whenever but he's a funny age, plus Stafford lost it's children's ward a year or so ago.
