What's your plans for Christmas....

Postby Ally » 21 Dec 2017, 14:35

We're off out Friday night for our usual beers and tapas with a load of our friends. Always a good laugh. :x :x

Saturday Conor & Lucia have asked us over to their place. We'll go for a walk along the coast and have lunch at a chiringuito. 8-)

Saturday early doors I'm meeting David in Jose's world famous vodka emporium to exchange gifts and have a few beers. Don will join us later. :D

Sunday Conor is coming over in the afternoon and him & Jacob are taking us out for a drink and a tapas. As all bars close by 6pm (Christmas Eve is the most important meal for Spanish families) we're going back to our house and the twins are cooking for us. :)

Jacob is doing a starter of gambas pil-pil. Conor is cooking us steaks with home made wedges with a rocket, cherry tomato and balsamic salad. (Him moving in with Lucia 6 months ago has been brilliant. He discovered he loves cooking!) :x

I'm making a cheesecake for dessert. 8-)

Conor will go back home later that night to be with Lucia who will have had dinner with her family.

On the big day itself Jacob is off to Granada for a few days as he's rented a house with a load of friends for 4 days.

Don and I are off to Nerja for 3 days. :Hi: :Hi:

We'll have a rest when we come back on the 28th to begin planning for New Year and then the Spanish Christmas celebrations. :? :?

What plans do you all have?

We had every intention of going to the German market last weekend Jo - but we took one look at the throng of people and sidestepped up Cannon Street to the Windsor.

Christmas day just us two, lunch of posh nibbles, dinner of single beef rib (cooked like a giant steak), with fresh chips and rocket, horseradish cream, and Gu puds :)

Boxing day the boys and Bb's mum and dad are coming :)
One day before all that a neighbour or two are probably coming for drinks.

Friday, we've decided on an "us" day. A few beers sat outside in the sun, then steak, chips, mushrooms and onion rings, by request.

Saturday, we're meeting a load of friends down at the bar, from 3.00pm onwards and I'll have cooked a chicken curry, with a veg side.

Christmas Eve, we're off to Antonia's for an Austrian/Dutch evening. With a secret santa. About 14 of us. She did tell me what we're having, but I've forgotten

Christmas Day, I'm cooking for 6 of us, proper Christmas lunch, even got some parsnips 8-) 8-) Pate to start, turkey and stuff, then stollen, ice cream and that rather lush dessert I can make, with condensed milk and cream. Crackers and a little chocolate father christmas for each of us and if they're really good, some Carolans, coffee and brandy.

Not going to Pieter's for Christmas Day night. He's doing pancakes and I'm sure it's a lovely evening, but I'll be jiggered.

Boxing Day is a normal working day and we'll probably pop down to the bar, as it shuts on Sunday, regardless of what holiday it is.

New years Eve, we've been invited to Pieter's, but we'll decline. I'm really not into all the palaver of NYE   8-)

Oh and skyping with Julia and the boys :Hi: :Hi: :Hi: :Hi: :Hi: :Hi:
