Princess Michael of Kent has been accused of racism for wearing a blackamoor brooch whilst attending a meal which included the mixed race girlfriend and soon to be wife of Prince Harry, Megan Markle.

It has gone past the point where everything we do has to be approved by the self-elected 'offended on behalf of everybody' brigades. If we do not get approval we are now branded as an 'ist' of some sort or an adherent of some kind of 'ism'.

It is rather frightening that so many people unquestioningly jump on to these populist censorship bandwagons, and even more disturbing that the media gives them so much oxygen of publicity.

The Princes Michael story has been given plenty of prominence as have many quotes and tweets from those superior beings who need to get us all 'on message' so long as it is their message. There is not one word in the defence of Princess Michael and certainly no criticism of her accusers.

It's a slippery slope.

I think things are getting ridiculous now, in many aspects.

I'm an "-ist" in many ways, but consider myself normal, although it's sometimes wisest keep my mouth shut.

The ranks of the professionally offended continue to swell. Some people may be genuinely offended, others say they are because they think that they should.

When they are being stupid like this I just call Them racist intolerant scumbags. They get seriously bent out of shape about that but I don't care. After all if I think someone else is being racist that is my right isn't it?? Just like theirs.

The funniest one I heard recently, on a call, was one of our Kazak colleagues saying "we can do without the racist comments".

What he didn't know was that the "South African" person that he heard talking was of Indian extraction and had fled to the UK to escape Black African violence, crime and oppression....
