Rant away Saundra! It annoys me too, we hardly ever use the landline phone but you've got to pay the line rental to be able to use broadband.

Took a minute or two to get through to the woman in the pharmacy

Me - hello, I need to collect some tablets for my son
Woman - what's his name?
Me - Joe (Surname)
Woman walks off and looks through some boxes
Woman - Joanne?
Me - no, it's Joe
Woman - Joanne?
Me - no, Joe
Woman - Joanne?
Me - no, Joe.
