This movie only goes up to Jan 2016. End year stats for 2017 will come out in the next month or so. But the reality is this.
In the 1990's CO2 growth rose by over 2ppm in only one year, 1998. Yeah, we all know about that one. Great Big El Nino driving it out of whack. Huge fires in Indonesia choking Singapore and Malaysia so much they complained to the UN.
Whacky year.
In the 2000's CO2 growth rose by over 2ppm in 3 out of 10 years.
In the 2010's, of the 7 years to end 2016, CO2 growth rose by over 2ppm in 5 OUT OF 7 YEARS and we don't know how 2017 will go but I expect it to be either 2ppm or slightly below.
Nice to know all those accords to reduce CO2 growth and keep global temperature rise below 2C are working. Very comforting...
