She took the points, so the perversion of justice was done.

Had she kept quiet the crime would have gone undetected, but no, she wanted revenge on a cheating husband.

Well she got her revenge; he had to resign. But it has come back to bite her as well, as things often do. They could or should now both go to jail.

If only the police had done their jobs properly in the first place all this expense could have been spared. He would never have become an MP and she would have lost a highly paid job. All in all they haven't done too badly out of it.

Crime can pay.

I never thought that the "marital coercion" ploy was a sound defence; she is, in herself, too "feisty" a character for that.

If they do get prison sentences, I doubt it'll be more than three months each, though.

I notice she's now trying to "smear" all the top LibDems, saying they knew about Huhne - Vince Cable, Lord Oakshot, Miriam Clegg - I wonder how true that is? They are denying she told them, of course.

That is all they would have got if the police had done their jobs properly in the first place.

What pi55es me off is that the police appear to be too cosy with those in high places - and not only in this instance. Had this been a case of 'ordinary' people attempting to pervert the course of justice it would have been dealt with in short order.

Let's get real here, circa 900 people in the UK are murdered ever year.

When I know two people with multiple drink driving and drink driving when banned offences where one person got away without a custodial sentence and another got a 6 month custodial sentence after his FITHT drink driving whilst banned offence.

This waste of time, money and effort just makes me mad.

Or cut the crotches out of his trousers like Pamela did to that Neil. But indeed what a fantastic escalation of such a trivial matter and as for telling a few porkies to the police they are not exactly adverse to that themselves when trying to secure a conviction but funnily enough do not get brought to book over it. Nice person or not it could be a pity to have lost him in government if he is competent, goodness knows they are short enough on talent.

Personally I think this prosecution is a good thing.

In my opinion the one factor that should be the paramount concern in a court of law is the
persuance of truth, and the telling on untruths of any sort should be most severely punished.

If this principle is firmly established then perhaps people will have more respect for the law.

Exactly? It might only have been a speeding ticket to start with, but it grew into something a lot more important, especially given the positions in society of the people involved.
