Ah well.
Superglue doesn't adhere to metal that well. We proved that in the Army pretty comprehensively. It can't withstand a sharp blow at 90deg. Bit hard to do with scissors though. I guess buying new one's is not that onerous.
I, on the other hand, don't glue them together. I just go to a new apartment expecting them to be there, not bringing my store of about 10 pairs, then have to go to PoundLand and get another pair..... As I had to this time...
Of course my Army mantra comes into play here. If at first you don't succeed, Hit it Harder. If that does not succeed, get a Bigger Hammer. I used to have a "personal" 14lb sledge hammer. I picked it out of the scrap bin where it had been dumped because someone had shattered the shaft. I cut the shaft short and it fitted perfectly between my wrist and elbow. Excellent for getting below a 10T truck and "persuading" a component to come off.
After all, what did you have to lose? They were a replacement item in either situation...
