What a difference a day of sunshine makes

Postby JanB » 12 Mar 2018, 18:56

8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

No rain - yet.

This morning, we went down to the bottom track and cleared off next doors (the nasty one) estevas that are causing problems when we drive past. That took 8 barrow loads - or was it 10? I lost count.

Back for breakfast, 3 machine loads of washing out and back in - not ironed yet - then moved all the furniture, vacuumed, mopped, with all the doors and windows open :Hi: :Hi:

Planted a lemon tree, tidied up around that area. Inspected cabbages and caulis for caterpillars - killed 4 of the blighters - checked if still too wet to weed - yes.

Grumpy decided to cut off the mimosa tree - which we have to by law, by Thursday, as it was over hanging a structure. That's now cut up and most of it is on the bonfire, ready for when we can - too wet as yet.

Just sat down for a quick mini - beer 8-) - Sergio rang. He'll be with us about 4.00. Turned up at 3.00  Odd for a Portuguese. But we now have English tele back :Hi: :Hi:

So watching a film on Portuguese, as rubbish on the few English channels we can get.

We both ache, backs, knees. Grumpy is feeling rather tired. But as he won't listen to me, when I say, that'll do, the tree will still be there tomorrow................

We need to get either Alberto or Dimas up, with a chainsaw, to get rid pf the main trunk of the mimosa, then we can plant the other lemon.

All in all, rather pleased with today :D :D

LOL, it absolutely bucketed down here this afternoon - we've had a fair bit of rain over the last 48 hours and the river is running quite high at the moment, as the ground's saturated and the water's just running off it. Plenty on the roads this morning driving up to Shaftesbury to do a bit of shopping .....

More rain forecast for tomorrow Saundra, hence us doing rather a lot today.

And the garden was squelching when I took the branches down to the bonfire - in fact, I had to jump in the shower - for the second time today - as my feet were soaked and I had stripped down to jeans and t-shirt  Wasn't that hot, but so much tramping up and down hills - not used to it

I'm so desperate for a weekend of two day dry and warmish so I can get to the allotment and do things in the garden. Was meant to meet with friends for lunch this Saturday but have cancelled as the forecast sort of looks promising; so fingers crossed.

sunshine makes the world of difference - but it's seemingly a very rare commodity here in the UK at the moment

You could not make it up. Two weather sites plus the BBC, Sky and and the Microsoft weather app all forecast cold and rain.

It is mild, dry and mostly sunny through broken cloud.

Frank, I listen to BBC local radio while getting ready, John watches BBC Breakfast (and the local Midlands news segment with weather) and we both have the BBC weather app on our phones and regularly all three have different forecasts for this area!
