Shell:

* has no watch
* not interested in losing weight
* or calorie counting
* or accuracy
* and can check her own heart rate....

Soooo......... try this, and it's Pink- just a click away.

Have a weekend away with the £80 saved.

Sorted.

No problem, Shell, it comes from being a tight Yorkshireman. :lol: :lol: :lol:

If you are going to buy something you might not really need do not pay top dollar. If, later on, you like the idea you can then move to the more expensive end of the range and put the old one on eBay for the price of a curry or a pizza. ;)

I use the Pacer app on my phone, it's pretty accurate and you can put in as much info as you wish, or not. It tracks your steps even if you don't have the app open.

It's free.

Job done!

problem with that though Gal is that it won't count all the steps you do when you don't have your phone on you. So if you're at work and you've got your phone on your desk but you are up and down to do all sorts of things; that's missing out on a lot of steps (if you're trying to be as accurate as can be that is)

In terms of service Fitbit is excellent. In terms of build quality, not so much. My replacement for my first one has a faulty left button. However the second replacement is on its way.

If you have a Charge 2 watch out for using Dyson air blades. If the strap is not perfect, it will peel it back. I didn't notice with my first Surge, but I looked closely at the replacement.

As for accuracy, I got into the settings and set my stride length. It was totally wrong for me as I have short legs.

Just one point about cheap Chinese trackers. There has been quite a lot of problems with the security on the app software. If you do decide to buy cheap, check online for the name and problems.

Whilst I do agree with WM in general about how effective they are, I do find I will walk a bit further if I am near my 10k target. It is also useful to know how hard you are pushing yourself. I recorded 220 minutes of heavy activity on Saturday and 47 floors.

I bought the surge 2 for one specific reason. It has 7 days battery and will run for 2 full days with GPS on. Great for the Mountains.

I’ve got a charge 2. I’m not interested in weight loss and thought heart rate was a gimmick. But as I’m so unfit I thought it would be good way to track my elusive return to health. I’ve used more features than I expected to. The first few night took some getting use to as I was not use to a watch and this felt bulky. But by night 3 it’s not bothered me since.
Ie since learnt that I average about 6000 steps a day. If I do 8k + then I need to plan 2-3 days recovery.
I like that it reminds me to move. I find resting in a chair hours could pass before I realised it. This reminds me to move.

Put it in your pocket? I thought I walked a lot whilst at work but apparently not enough to warrant keeping it in my pocket even :(

I'm a skinflint :lol:

Ah but you don't always have it with you. Last Saturday, whilst fixing my daughters central heating, I walked 15,000 steps, 91 floors, 6 miles and did 261 minutes of cardio exercise. Apparently I burned 5,600 calories too.

For the vast majority of that the phone was sitting on the bedside table.

My main issue with the Fitbit is that I don't like to type with any kind of watch on.
