What do you do with an unwanted gift?

Postby meriad » 30 Mar 2018, 11:35

One of the gifts I was given for my 50th last year was a cat puzzle that had been put together and then framed; and dare I say not my taste at all. The person who gave it to me absolutely loves that type of thing and was so pleased to have found the puzzle and so proud of it etc... but what do I do with it esp as there is a slim chance that they will one day visit. It's not exactly a small frame either and I don't really have the space to just store it

So what would you do - pass on to someone that may like it and then come up with an excuse should they one day visit (and what excuse would be a good one? :? ) or find somewhere in the deepest darkest corner of somewhere in the flat to hold on to it?

I've been mulling this one over for a good few months and just don't know what to do

If you know someone that would like it pass it on, just make sure its not to someone that the gift giver will visit.

How likely are they to visit? And if they do are they likely to say "where's that picture I bought you?'

I would probably get rid!

My best friend gave me a photo of me and Amy on canvas a few years ago for xmas, it was taken at her wedding....Amy looked beautiful BUT the photographer took it looking up at us, a very bad angle, I nearly cried when i saw it because I actually looked like Miss Piggy, massive double chin, even mum agreed it was a bad photo!! I kept it for ages in its box but since iv been clearing out it went in the bin! I feel bad but im never going to display it!!

Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

Yes a charity shop - or as a raffle prize if you know of somewhere to give it? There are raffles at most of the dances we go to, so we can bring prizes.

Thanks all - Charity shop it is! :D

Saundra, I'll ply her with rum and coke and hopefully she won't notice... although saying that hopefully she'd notice that it would not have matched anything in my home and that whilst the thought was there it just was never going to work

thanks

It's always a dilemma, isn't it? :D

But sometimes, you just have to make the decision. Cats Protection League charity shop, I reckon!
