Just a thought wouldn't a surgeon tell the hospital he was going on holiday weeks ago and not to schedule any operations for this week

I don't know what to say either, other than I would be seriously considering an official complaint :( ((((((x)))))

From what I've been told it seems the consultants are at war with the hospital management, they have completely refused to continue operations, other than emergencies, until the area is given a deep clean. I totally get their reasons, but it hasn't resulted in the system getting an overhaul. The orthopaedic bed manager gets the necessary beds free, but over the weekends it's overruled by bed managers in other areas. Hence the knee/hip replacement ward being compromised, not just with trauma patients, but also overspill from the medical wards too. I'm sure there's an element of bed blocking as well. Frankly while the current system continues it's a stand-off and I don't see much hope of getting a bed!!!

I wrote to PALS at the beginning of last week, no reply yet so have forwarded it on with an update telling them it's cancellation 5 now and the hospital is on the cusp of failing to adhere to the NHS Constitution. I'll give them time to reply, but not holding out much hope they will be able to help. The next step will be to contact my local MP, but frankly I doubt he will be able to help either.
