Jo, that does actually sound a bit worrying like the possible beginning of a nervous breakdown. Is there someone John could voice some concerns to?

Saundra, it's been the most glorious sunny day here as well :D - unfortunately the weekend is looking rather a washout again :(

Jo, if Tom has changed suddenly, not a click of the fingers but over a few days / weeks / months then it is more than just a bit of a worry.

It might not be a bad idea for John to explain what he is seeing to a mental health practitioner or even your GP. NHS choices would not be a bad place to start looking for mental health helplines.

Tom's change might be something or nothing, or it could be a cry for help from his suconscious. It sounds like he needs the help of a friend.

Frank, a medic won't discuss John's colleague with him, I don't think :? This needs to go over Tom's head, to HIS boss, if possible. HR?

Kaz, they would obviously not discuss things at the patient level, but they may be able to help with the hypothetical or abstract "If you saw these changes in somebody you had known for a long time would they ring any alarm bells?" that type of thing. I am thinking that the helplines are there for just such a question.

Out and about in the car this afternoon with Kellie in the back. On the way home, I was treated to an abbreviated and hilarious version of The Little Mermaid story - she loves the film. Just listening to her little voice chatting away, she is so articulate for a child her age, it was one of "those" moments when I realise how lucky we are to have the time and energy to enjoy our lovely grandchildren.

It's always lovely to read just how involved you are with them Osc. I hardly knew my grandparents because of us living in SA and them in Germany - mom's parents came out to visit a few times but my dad's parents couldn't due to health issues.
