It seems that Joe has a girlfriend. He's been spending a lot of time these last two weeks with a girl who goes to his college. He texted John for a lift home one night last week and then texted again, asking if his 'friend' could have a lift too. She actually lives very near to our old house and John came home saying that she was lovely.

Yesterday afternoon I popped down to town and as I walked across the end of a street I spotted someone out of the corner of my eye, thought it was Joe and it was...a very very red Joe because he was with this girl, Raegan  I went back to speak to them and she is indeed lovely. He's since said that she's coming back here with him after college tomorrow.

It turns out though that John went to school with her Dad and I also know him, or at least knew him many years ago, as his friend was going out with my best friend.

That's the problem living where you grew up isn't it, everyone seemed to know my mum or dad, or their mum or dad did :)
And my dad didn't live there till after they married.

Di, everyone knows everyone else here in Gloucester, it's a city with a small town personality - took me some getting used to but I am used to it now

You know the "six degrees of separation" theory? Well here it's two, or three at the most

That's so like around here, it's always been quite unusual for people to move out of the area although I suspect that now more are going away to university that's going to change as they take jobs elsewhere and settle in other areas.

6 degrees? So many exist? NZ is most definitely 2 degrees. So much so we have one of the major mobile phone companies called 2 degrees.

Although it’s got better in Auckland now that mass migration happened over the last 10 years.

I am so thoroughly fed up with this blinking virus
Over three weeks now and still it goes on...
The only consolation is that I have spoken to several people who have exactly the same :(
