The owner of Zara...

Postby Ally » 23 Apr 2018, 21:57

...not sure if any of you know this but the owner of Zara, Amancio Ortega, (as well as donating millions of his fortune to charities and hospitals) pays for 500 annual scholarships for Spanish students to go to America and Canada. 250 in each country.

There are a couple of stipulations: the student has to be in their second year of bachillerato and has to get good grades in English and one other subject (thus ensuring students work hard :D )

Anyway....one of my B2 students has been awarded a scholarship!! :D :D :D She is over the moon. :D

Lucia's off to Pennsylvania in August for 10 months. She was telling me tonight that her host couple are in their 40's with 2 dogs and a pig that sleeps in their garage.
