Afternoon all, it is a lovely bright day here and we have been for a great walk - wonderful to see that the trees are finally blossoming and the gorse is blazing yellow everywhere. I have bed linen and towels on the line, they should get nicely dry. Nothing particular planned for the rest of the day. Aggers, we have been watching the snooker too, some good matches so far.

afternoon, evening all - had a busy weekend trying to prepare for mom's arrival on Wednesday. Yesterday DFS delivered my loan sofa; I'd ordered a sofa bed back in Feb and was expecting delivery the week before easter but it's still not here so they've given me a loan instead, but it's a really horrible cheap crappy mattress compared to what I'd ordered so I'm going to throw a big strop at them tomorrow. Then to the restaurant where we're having mom's 80th birthday lunch and glad we did as they moved us to a different table to where we were originally meant to be; so more space now which is great. Costco today to get some drinks / food etc to feed the masses when they descent on the two households . Now got a gentleman sorting out my greenhouse vents and it's more complicated than first thought so a lot more money on that as well - oh well.... such is life

It's so darn freezing today; as Aggers said, hard to believe it's May in 2 days time. I'll be hauling out my winter jacket for work tomorrow, the mac I've been wearing isn't anywhere near warm enough.

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone x

Gorgeous here now after a morning of spitter spatter rain and light cloud.

T was at the farm till 1.30 so I took myself off for a walk round Durham city this morning, along the riverbank as I often do. I set the tracker on my Pacer app as I left the house and the daft thing included the drive to the parking spot in the walk??!! I KNEW I couldn't have done almost 9 miles!!  In truth it made much more sense that I'd done nearly 5, and went to about 11000 steps. I cheated and had THE most lush scone and latte at The Secret Garden coffee shop near Houghall College on the way back to the car....worth it though as I saw some chaffinches and blue tits really close to me feeding off a bird feeder tray - tried taking a pic but the little blighters were fast!

Popped in to Poplar Tree Garden Centre and bought a little feeder to stick on the window - might work, might not, and some fresh bird seed.

Did some ironing when I got back and then have just chilled in the conservatory, I did nod off for a bit - when I came round Lily was here with D, having just dropped some stuff off for me So I got a cuddle 8-)

The sun is streaming through the conservatory atm and it's toasty warm in there but the heating has knocked on as the rest of the house is cold! Madness!! May in a day or two!

Have a lovely evening all xx

It has been a truly awful day " darn sarf ".
It is bitter cold and drizzly rain all day with a biting wind.
Have stayed in and put the heating on.
It is hard to believe that it is nearly May.
We have bought a load of plants for the window boxes etc
but it is too cold to bother about them and if it gets much colder
the frost might get them.

We've been driven inside by that cold north wind Lissie.

Also wanted to do some gardening today, but much too cold. Will have to wait a day or so, I think. Warming up then and also dry.

We have never lit a fire here in April - not in the 12 years we've been here
