Morning Ally and everyone

Dull, grey and not very warm.

Off to Aljustrel soon, to have this monitor taken off, then onto Castro Verde to look at furniture, for the new bedroom :D Will stop for a coffee and toastie and a rather nice cafe.

Will probably stop in Pingo on the way back and do the shopping.

Back to light the bonfire.

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Morning :)
Dull here this morning, rain forecast on and off.

We've been very lucky with the weather down here, it's been mostly lovely for a couple of weeks :)

Craft for me this morning, plus a phone appt.

Have a good day all

Good morning all, it's grey, warm and humid here.

Billy's had a long walk and now the washing machine's doing it's job. It's quite breezy so it should dry quickly and then it can be ironed. No other plans apart from cleaning. Not sure if Tom's back today or tomorrow, he's been at Shannon's since Saturday night as she's 21 at the weekend but with this being a Bank Holiday weekend they had a family BBQ a week early as they had 25 aunts, uncles and cousins travelling from Surrey and W.Sussex (she's originally from that part of the world - and sounds right posh :P - but they moved to Derbyshire a few years ago for her Dad's job).

Have a good day all!

Morning all :)

Have a good one, Ally :)

Furniture shopping sounds fun, Jan :D

We've had great weather lately too Di, apart from this weekend

Jo, Becky has a fairly posh voice too, but 8 years in Gloucester is giving her a bit of a local drawl :D  Give Shannon time......  Having said that, D has lived in Gloucester for almost 60 years and still has her Essex twang :D :D

It's looking really dreary here, but I must get out and walk, my step count for this weekend is shocking  :cute: Probably town and back, not popping to D's today as she's having lunch out with the in-laws, who are going back to Weymouth later. I'll see her tomorrow :) We've had a nice BH weekend, despite the weather :)

Have a good day everyone :) xx

Morning all :D

It's been raining here, a complete turnaround after the lovely sunshine we enjoyed yesterday. Think we're in for a storm, can hear some rumblings out there.

E managed to get quite a bit more done in the garden, it looks so much nicer. Still got lots of pots and stuff left by the previous owner to get rid of, but that means a trip to the tip, not going to happen for a while.

Good luck for good results Jan.

Had another call from the ward manager, explained about my ankle problem now I'm on one crutch and she said to mention it at physio. What physio I said, there was a pause and it was very obvious she was taken aback. I explained Gary told me he would arrange it, but on the day of discharge said he didn't think it was necessary. I told her I'd had to look online to see how to use one crutch properly, actually found a demonstration on youtube. I reiterated how happy I'd been with my care on the ward, they were absolutely brilliant, but after care at home is pretty much non existent, heaven help anyone who lives alone, goodness knows how they cope. Without E I'd have been stuffed, they tell you to use the perching stool provided in the bathroom and kitchen, but actually moving it between the two while on crutches doesn't seem to have occurred to anyone. Then there's the DVT stocking you need to wear for 6 weeks, without help it's mission impossible. Even now although I can get in the shower, I'd really struggle to turn round and get out without help. I know it's all about cost cutting, but it seems an awful waste to do the operation if some people, particularly the elderly, find their recovery is hampered through lack of help.

No plans for today, hoping to get out for a couple of walks if the weather brightens.

Have a good day :D

Good morning all, lovely day here and it's warm too. I am going into town to meet someone who I have not met before. This lady contacted the man who organises some dances in Blackpool Tower looking to go to one with a group, so he contacted me to see if I could help. It was a bit awkward as I am not the organiser of the group we are going with in August. Turned out the lady is from Belfast, widowed, early 60s. I did contact her and told her about b&bs, tickets for the dance etc. and said if she was going to come with us I would have to check with our organiser as he had said the coach taking us from Manchester Airport to Blackpool was full. However, it seems to me that she just needed a little push as she went off, organised a pal to go with her, booked flights from Belfast, accommodation and tickets for the dance. She had danced in Blackpool before with her husband, so knows her way around. She asked if she could come and meet up with me in Dublin, so we would not be complete strangers, so she is coming today. We will walk a little by the river and have lunch, she is only here for just under three hours. Hopefully we will get along together.

Back home then and a short period of babysitting this evening.

Jen, that is dreadful :? :?

When I broke my ankle, I had physio every day for half an hour, then half an hours massage on the leg and ankle. For weeks

Still cloudy here and very sticky. grumpy just off to light the bonfire. Had a lovely chat with the bombeiros when I just rang - he was laughing with me, at my accent. Different people say Aguinhas so very differently
