In great trepidation, I read the water meter this evening, wondering what on earth the consumption has been like since the drought started as I've been toting water like a coolie round the garden every other day, trying to keep a load of newly-planted shrubs from shrivelling up. I've been using a watering can, not a hosepipe. Thankfully, the usage has been not too bad and pretty similar to last summer, surprisingly averaging only 0.171 thingamejigs per whotsit for the last couple of months compared with 0.174 this time last year ….
