:P

Frank, we had a weather expert on the radio this morning warning us of flash floods for the Birmingham area tomorrow.

You know, it's easier to just do it for him...I know what he's like when it comes to doing the washing and he'd have the machine on just to wash a pair of socks :P

After my dad passed and mom had to find work we all were responsible for the laundry... The washing was done together as that made more sense and it was a case of whoever was home and if the laundry basket was full you put a load on. But we all had to do our own ironing - I did make a couple of quid that way though as I'd charge my brothers if I did any of theirs :D

We also took turns with the cooking / cleaning up etc and I must say it's stood us all in good stead - all of us (boys and girls) can wash, iron, cook, clean etc....

Times definitely have changed Saundra, but then I often wonder how much we (my brothers and I) would have been expected to do had dad not passed away and mom go to work - until then we were lucky to have mom home all the time and there for us. We'd come home from school and she was always there - everything was done and besides the odd chores that we had to do, time was ours to do with as we wanted (after homework of course).

I do think all kids should know how to cook, wash, iron, clean etc before they leave the house purely because it's a necessity but life becomes a humdrum soon enough so enjoy it while they can x

We used to let the children pick the evening meal a couple of days a week, but they had to (help) make it with the prep and cooking. They also had cleaning days for their own rooms. It has benefited them no end as they have moved on. It should be standard practice and costs nothing, but the long term rewards are priceless.

Since Becky came home from Uni she's done her own laundry, cleaned her own bathroom, and I assume she tidies and cleans her room as I never go in there ;)

If she only has a few bits to wash, however, and I'm putting a load on, it goes through with ours :)

We've got it on here too Saundra.

I've had the fan running in the upstairs living room all morning so that it's nice and cool in here.
